Remains of fishing net entangle on a coral reef, from South China Sea, Brunei, Coral Triangle.

Unfortunately a lot of fishing nets keep fishing when lost in the sea, this is called ghostfishing, as no one will use the fish or crabs that get caught and they die in the net. Pollution is a global threat to marine life, so is overfishing.
