King David on a throne plays the Anglo-Saxon harp. Courtiers juggle and play instruments.

The Anglo-Saxons put their own harp into the hands of King David, the Royal Psalmist, in this ancient illustration. Around him, musicians play the horn, trumpet and violin, and a man juggles with balls and knives. This wood-engraving taken from Charles Knight, Picturesque Old England (c. 1850), but the original illustration is from an Anglo-Saxon (Old English) manuscript.
