AND SUBURBAN ELECTRIC construction, having some forty curves, and, moreover,was wretchedlv constructed. After investigating the various methods of propulsionand selecting the electric S3-stem, the management of thecompany contracted with the Thomson-Houston ElectricCompany, on May 14th, 1891, for the entire equipmentof the road, consisting of 45 motor cars, each equippedwith two 15-horse-power single reduction motors, 45 trailcars and ten loo-horse-power generators, besides theoverhead construction (cross-suspension method) for theentire length of the road. On July 18th, work was commenced on the over-head line, power-house, and in changing the cable andnarrow gauge steam track to conform to the require- oak ties, and through the business portion of the city thetrack is paved.
