Beijing, China - 17 October 2006; no people in view. At the heart of Beijing lies the The Forbidden City - the Imperial Palace and seat of the Emperor from the Ming to the end of the Qing dynasty, over five centuries which finally ended in 1912. It is a magnificent site, but usually crowded with tourists. But there are still quiet spots and stunning vistas to be found, if you look hard enough. Here we see an array of golden, ornate roofs.
