Protesters smash the window of Bank of China building during the of office workers and masked protesters clash with police in one of the most violent days for the financial hub since the protests began five months ago, a police officer shot a masked protester and another man was doused in fuel and set on fire. Despite the controversial extradition bill which originally sparked the protests being formally withdrawn, protesters continue to call on Chief Executive Carrie Lam to meet their remaining demands which includes complete universal suffrage, an independent investigation into police brutality, retraction of the word ‘rioting’ to describe the protests, and dropping all charges against arrested protesters.
