The Intercolonial Railway ofCanada recently built three gasolenemotor cars for suburban and branchline service and these cars are lightedby the Vapor lighting system here de-scribed. The Safety Car Heating andLighting Company of New York willbe happy to answer all inquiries on thissubject which may be addressed tothem. The Holmes metallic packing whichhas been subjected to a very exactingand at the same time very satisfactorytest on the Philadelphia & Reading lastyear, is made by the Holmes MetallicPacking Company, of INTERCOLONIAL MOTOR CAR EQUIPPED WITH THE VAPOR LIGHTING SYSTEM. the saloon of the car where a pressuregauge and shut-off valve are gauge shows the pressure of airin the air storage tank. From the sa-loon the air passes to the high pressureregulator which automatically puts apressure on the carburetor in accord-ance with the temperature. In passingthrough the carburetor the air takes upsufficient gasolene vapor to make theproper kind of gas. From the car-buretor the gas passes through a lowpressure regulator which reduces the Pa. This packing we are informed bythe makers is furnished subject tothirty days trial and is guaranteed forone year. The parts liable to wear arethe rings which can be renewed atsmall expense. The packing is guaran-teed to be steam tight, and not toscore, scratch or blister the rod, andreferences on this point will be givenby the company upon applicatio
