Company I, of the One Hundredand Sixth, which happened to be stationed across a small road leadingthrough the wood, suffered severely, losing four killed and twelvewounded; the Regiment lost nine killed, twenty-four wounded andtwelve missing. The picket line was established ; and the men, hungryand exhausted, laid down for rest, and held their position until thewhole corps crossed White Oak
