For short journeys within cities of in Sri Lanka the main mode of transport is the Tuk Tuk, a three wheeled motorized rickshaw driven by a driver usually male which can carry three people. The Tuk Tuks are brightly painted and sometimes adorned with religious good luck charms and garlands. They can be hailed from the street and the fare is then negotiated, the journey is usually a short distance of no more than a few miles.
