Kirkleatham Redcar 26 November 2016. During the building of a school at Kirkleatham remains of 19 bodies were found. Archaeology and radiocarbon dating found them to be Anglo-Saxon Christians from 680AD to 780AD. There were remains of 19 people, including nine men and seven women. Today there was a re-internment service at St Cuthberts Church Kirkleatham. Vicar of Kirkleatham, Rev. Matt Strand, led the service, accompanied by Bishop of Whitby, the Right Rev. Paul Ferguson.
