The overhead equipment is on the span-wire system, a doubleline of trolley wire being used throughout. The standards aremade up of solid drawn, weldless steel tubes, and have an over-all length of 28 ft. They are set 6 ft. deep below the uppersurface of the rails, the excavation being entirely filled withconcrete. From theZegyo Bazaar the tramway radiates in three branches. Oneleads to the shore, where the Irawaddy Flotilla Companyssteamers embark their passengers, and so will cater for thetraveling public. The second runs to the Arakan Pagoda, andwill serve the suburbs which cluster around that famous third leads to the Court House, where the daily legal busi-ness of the city and district is transacted. The tramways have a route of 7 miles, double track through-out, and equal, exclusive of cross-over roads, approximately14 miles of single track.
