Fulmer Falls are a series of most picturesque cata-racts. The Silver-Thread Fall is the crowning beauty of thesemountain torrents. It is a (bread of water but a few feet wide,but it comes with one continuous fall of a hundred and fiftyfeet down the face of the mountain, every drop of water beinglashed into the whitest foam. Its bed is the solid rock, anddense forest trees prevent the sun from entering anywhere uponit. Standing at the side of the troubled pool which receives thewaters after their plunge, the visitor may look up along the. 68 course of the Silver-Thread, and see a patch of blue sky at thefarther end. This singular waterfall was formerly called theSoap Trough, from its foamy appearance, and the trough-likechannel it has worn in the rock. The falls on Dingman Creekare within from one to three miles of the High-Falls House, theproprietor of which has rendered them easy of access, theyhaving formerly been reached with great difficulty. The AdamsBrook, on which there are a still greater number of natural curi-osities, is a mile from Dingmans Ferry. This creek is five milesin length, and has a fall in that distance of nearly one-quarterof a mile. The explorer of its wonders, starting in near its upperwaters, must follow it in its tortuous and perilous course untilit reaches the open valley, for so encompassed is it by rocksand mountains that it is almost impossible to find a way out ofthe ravine.
