Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean
Cuaçao Synagogue, is the oldest surviving synagogue in the Americas, and still in use for religious services. Built in 1730 for the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish Community that arrived in Cuaçao in the 1650s. The Synagogue has a sand covered floor, that originally intended to muffle sounds for security. One of Curaçao's top tourist attractions.
