Enderby's Wharf - industrial 16 acre site on the banks of the Thames on the Greenwich Peninsula. It was first developed as a whaling company by Samuel Enderby and Sons. In 1857 Submarine cable manufactures (Glass Elliot & Co) started manufacturing telegraph cables on the site and they merged with Telcon. In 1935 Submarine cables Ltd took ownership of the site and manufactured submarine cables until 1975. It was subsequently owned by Northern Telecom and in 1994 by Alcatel. In 2011 planning permission was given to develop 3 acres of the river frontage as a cruise liner terminal and housing
