In the latteryear he entered upon the practice of his pro-fession in Uniontown and there remained un-til October 1, 1S68. He then accepted a po-sition as physician at the Western Pennsyl-vania asylum for the insane at Dixmont, inwhich capacity he was engaged continuouslyuntil January 1, 1872. Returning to Union-town, he resumed his practice, in which hehas ever since been engaged. Since attain-ing his majority Dr. Ewing has been activein his identification with Republican partyinterests in Fayette county. His only officialconnection has been his membership in theborough school board, in which he renderedefficient service for a period of more thanten years. Since 1804 Dr. Ewing has beena trustee of Cottage State hospital, of Con-nellsville, Pa., and has been one of its staffof consulting surgeons since 1890. Dr. Ewing has assist-ed pecuniarily the various efforts that havebeen made to establish manufacturing plantsin Uniontown and vicinity, and has alwaysbeen recognized as a substantial and public-spirited citizen. Dr. Ewing was marriedJune 25, 1872, to Erne, daughter of the lateDavid B. and Margaret (Happer) B. Arrell died in 1899; his widow re-sides in Rock Island, Illinois.
