Meaux, with its shady boulevards and pleasantpublic gardens, must be an agreeable place to livein, nor would intellectual resources be wanting. Westrolled into the spacious town library, open, ofcourse, to all strangers, and could wish for no betteroccupation than to con the curious old books andthe manuscripts that it contains.
