We have been able to get carnations of fair quality at our own prices, but as carnations are beginning to show the advance of summer, asters are coming to the front. Boses are entirely gone. Various Notes. Those who have not been able to take vacations enjoy an evening plunge in the surf at the Electric park bathing beach. Tuesday, July 23, following an extremely hot day, found the leading retailers* employees at the beach. Among them were Bay Blessing, Will- iam Miller, S. Miller, W. Miller, Arnold Inski, Henry Kusik, Knowl, E. H. Har- vey and others. The Misses Brunk, Pinkerton and Buegthel, with Boy Blessing and W, Miller, had an enjoya- ble lunch on the grass as a close to the delightful evening. Mr. Jarvis, of Bertermann Bros. Co., of Indianapolis, was our guest for a day recently. George Dysinger, of the Ionia Pot- tery Co., visited us a few days ago. Henry Kusik & Co. have just closed a lease on a store, 22x112, in the new Y. W. C. A. building on McGee street, between Tenth and Eleventh streets. The present quarters have been out- grown. Mr. Kusik says he will carry the largest stock of supplies west of the Mississippi river. Such an establish- ment means much to the rapidly improv- ing southwest. The remodeling of the George M. Kel- logg store is completed and as a whole it is decidedly artistic. A large number of growers were in- vited to Swope park last week. All were much pleased with the planting.
