Wing of Airbus A380 SuperJumbo waiting to be shipped for assembly

Wings for all Airbus aircraft are manufactured at the Airbus factory in Broughton, North Wales. Most are flown out to France for assembly with our components to form whatever aircraft model is under construction. However, the wings of the Airbus A380 Superjumbo are so big, they cannot be flown out. Instead, when ready, they are trundled out to a neighbouring field where they wait for the next high tide whereupon they are placed on a barge and floated down the nearby River Dee and across the sea to France for onward delivery to the assembly plant in Toulouse. This photograph shows a completed wing waiting on a trailer in a field for the next high tide.
