GIANT SCIMETAR STRING This mammoth podded pea would deserve a place in every garden as a curiosity were it not also deserving of a place on the table as one of the daintiest delicacies the garden affords. The pods, broken up and cooked like string beans, form a dish that, many prefer to either beans or shelled peas, while others think them too rich to be eaten alone, and prefer a few pods only, mixed with ordinary shelled peas, to add richness and flavor. Many of the pods are curiously curled and twisted as shown in the engraving and often grow from five to six inches in length. One customer reports pods seven and three- fourths inches long.
