A Roman oil lamp shaped like an African head, 2nd - 3rd century Bronze lamp, the opening of which is fashioned as the pouting mouth of an African man. In combination with the bulging eyes and a hollow fist emerging from the forehead, the whole piece has a grotesque appearance. The hair styled in cropped, curly locks. The lid is missing on the back of the head, one hinge bracket still in place. Rare version of a common type with a fist on the forehead. Dark green patina. Length cm, height cm.
