Bayersdorfer & Co. have leased a building on Twelfth street for work- shop purposes. The Philadelphia Wholesale Florists' Exchange filled commencement orders for 19,000 roses in three days, Manager Deutscher computes. F. Herbert Steinmetz will manage the Twentieth street store of M. J. Callahan while William Doughty is on his wedding trip. Edward Keid and Miss Eeid have been motoring to Harper's Ferry. They will probably continue into Vir- ginia. H. Bayersdorfer and Mrs. Bayers- dorfer boarded the Lapland at Cher- bourg, June 30, bound for home. F. J. Michell, Jr., has taken his family to a bungalow at Ocean City, N. J., for the summer. Phil. NEW YORK. The Market. There is little change to note in the condition of the cut flower market. The usual summer dullness is now ex- perienced, a little earlier than custom- arily, perhaps, but the same old dull- ness. Arrivals are largely of summer flowers, and this year they are in great variety. Outside of staple flowers, clearances are difficult of accomplish- ment, and there is a good deal of wast- age at the end of each day. Outdoor gladioli have made an appearance, com- ing in quantity, adding largely to the general supply and moving slowly. Business in general is spasmodic, dull for a day or two, then becoming lively for a day, without any material change in values. Eoses are abundant. American Beauty is off crop with some growers, but there is no dearth of stock to meet the limited demand. Hybrid teas are showing the effect of a hot spell, which has lasted several days, and concessions have to be made to move open stock. Tight stock moves well at the prices last reported. White roses continue on the scarce side, but there seem to be enough to go around. Carnations are not overplentiful, and arrivals are poor in quality.
