Blood is contains cells and plasma. Blood cells white cells (leukocytes), red cells, platelets account for about half of the blood volume. The red blood cell transports oxygen to body tissues. White cells are part of the bodys immune system. Platelets (shown in blue over the red cell) are required for blood coagulation
