A German silver small sword, circa 1780. Thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section, decorative etching on both sides, and the inscription "La Prudence se fait voir dans le vin". Silver knucklebow hilt (quillons soft soldered, guard plate bent and broken) with an engraved, segmented scale pattern. Silver wire grip cover and braided ferrules. Original leather scabbard with silver mountings decorated en suite.
