Lavender fields and trees. In the valley of the Drome, the Alps meet Provence. Here, too, lavandin is grown for the industry. Lavandin is a hybrid lavender from a cross between the spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia) and the true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). Lavandin is more productive and therefore gradually displaces the true lavender from cultivation
