General Gage was now in the prime of life,being about forty-eight years of age. He was the second son ofThomas Viscount Gage and served with great credit under severalcommanders at Fontenoy, and Culloden, and in Braddock cam-paign. He married an American lady, the daughter of PeterKenible, Esq., president of the Council of New Jersey; he hadeleven children, six sons and five daughters. A niece of the (ten-eral by this marriage was the wife of the late Gen. Wm. II.
