The first crop ripens about with Gregg, is more abundant, and continues in bearing for three or four weeks, by which time the new canes begin to fruit and continue until checked by frost. This latter crop does not consist of a few scattering berries, but immense clusters, often numbering 100 berries on a single stalk. Fruit large size and of delicious flavor. Gregg"—Of great size: fine quality; very productive and hardy. It takes the same position among black caps as Cuthbert among the red sorts. No one can afford to be without it. Kansas—Jet black, firm and delicious: as large or larger than Gregg: the hardiest black cap known, successfully withstanding the winters of Canada. A little later than Souhegan, and more prolific. One of the very best. Mammoth Cluster—Large size, black or dark purplish black: very juicy, high flavored and delicious: perfectly hardy, and sufficiently firm to bear transportation to the most distant market. Ohio—A very strong growing hardy sort; fruit as large as Mammoth Cluster and more productive ; valuable for market and much esteemed for drying.
