Had the Wyoming students who debatedthis year done so merely for the sake of winnmg, their efforts wouldhave been in vain, but the real benefit of a debate comes in the de-velopment of each speaker in proportion to the effort he has year Wyoming withdrew from the Colorado league andgained the advantages of encounters with teams from larger collegesthan have been met before. The practice of having but a single expert judge who givesreasons for his decision, was tried in the case of the womens debate and found to bepreferable to the three-judge system. Much of the credit for the splendid work done in debating this year is due toProfessor Smith, a coach of outstanding ability, who spared no effort to turn outthoroughly prepared teams. The cooperation and interest of several other members ofthe Faculty was also valuable. Although we did not win all the debates, our teams made excellen
