If there is a likelihood of an increase in the size of the range, it woul;j be well to provide heating capacity at this time to the extent of at least an ad- ditional 70-foot house. In case a still greater increase is to be made, it will be better to provide an additional boil- er when the addition is made. AN INDIANA LETTUCJE HOUSE. We are building a greenhouse, 21x50, and intend to grow lettuce and vegetable plants. We have a hot water boiler, with a rating of 1,250 square feet. It has six 2-inch outlets and the same number of openings for returns. Please state how many runs of 2-inch pipe, mains and returns, will be neces- sary to heat the house properly. What day and night temperatures should be maintained? A. P. R. I would suggest the use of two 2^- inch flow pipes and eight 2-inch returns. While it would be desirable to have 2V^-inch openings in the boiler for the flows and returm^ it will answer if the flows and returns are re- duced to 2-inch at the boiler. If piped as I have suggested, the flows should be on the plates and the returns should be either on the walls or under the side benches, if raised benches are used. Another way of piping the house would be to use three 2-inch flow pipes and nine or ten 2-inch returns.
