Dendritic crystals in chalcedony. Chalcedony (white) is a variety of the silicate mineral quartz that forms extremely small, fine crystals. It can occur in a variety of colours. This sample has a delicate dendritic (branching) pattern caused by iron oxide (orange) mineral deposits. The sample measures 27 millimetres tall.
