Co., Greenfield, Mass., together with a larger view of thechuck supplied with machine and a more detailed view ofthe opening dies, holders and Fig. 1. The machine is illustrated by Fig. 1. Its capacity is forbolts and nuts, or pipe % to 2 inches. It is powerfully back-geared. Has six changes of speed, which are obtained bythrowing gears in and out, as with an engine lathe, whichmakes it possible to get suitable speed or power, as the natureof the work may require. It has a hollow spindle, holethrough spindle being 2% inches. The machine is operatedby a 3% in. belt. The chuck used with this machine is shown by Fig. jaws of this chuck are made of the best tool steel, andare carefully hardened and tempered. They have threechanges to enable taps, pipe, or iron, large or small, to bep:operly grasped. The great advantage of this in keepingthe jaws sharp and in good order Will be highly jaws will hold firmly square or round iron, from % to2% inches in size. Hole clear through, 2% inches.
