This is an active stellar nursery where young stars are being born from clouds of dust and gas. NGC 2467 is a young star cluster, only a few million years old. It is around 4500 light years from Earth. The region is also called the Skull and Crossbones, as some resemblance to a skull is seen. This region is located in the constellation Puppis. This image (published in 2018) was obtained with the FORS2 (Focal Reducer and Low Dispersion Spectrograph) instrument on the Very Large Telescope (VLT).
