Night view, looking south, Western Train Tram passing tableaux towards Noddy Tableau, The Cliffs, Blackpool Illuminations, 2013

Blackpool's Western Train Tram first ran in 1962 and was withdrawn from service in 1999. It returned for the switch-on of the 2008 Illuminations after a campaign by the Blackpool Gazette and renovation with the help of a £278,000 Heritage Lottery Fund. The tram was originally sponsored by ABC Weekend Television, whose illuminated logo lies under the funnel. In the North of England, in the early days of Independent Television, from 1956 until 1968, Granada ran the weekday schedules and ABC (Associated British Corporation) the weekend slot.
