The network of car lines extends outin all directions for miles, passing in places throughprimeval forest, in others past great clearings, wherewe see heaped up the stumps and roots which havebeen taken out to make the ground fit for heaps, thirty or forty feet high, are burntafter the dry season is over. If we go out to a district in which we have notbeen for some time, we find, where there was virginforest a short time ago, an extensive suburb, numerous houses, plank sidewalks, street cars, perhaps a new suburban line starting at what weused to look upon as the vnd of all things, andgoing some miles farther out, through new sub-divisions. These ear lines are regular railway tracks
