The Lola T670 was a new design for 1978 with a full-width nose cone and front radiator. The design inspiration for the T670 was the T570 F2 of 1977, which itself was based on the T550. Driver Mike Blanchet drove a Works T670 to a 5th place finish, one of the better finishes throughout the season. Arie Luyendijk finished 6th in Europe on several occasions. For the following F3 season, Lola built two new models - the T672 and t770. The T672 was basically a modified version of the T670. The T770 was a ground-effects car with wings, sidepods and sliding skirts. It had a fuselage-type monocoque with side radiators and a Chevy Vega engine. The wheelbase was shorter than T670 but with a wider front track.
