The abandoned whaling station at Stromness, South Georgia.

South Georgia is a small subantarctic island in the South Atlantic Ernest Shackleton famously traversed the island in 1916 to the whaling port of Stromness to raise a rescue party for his crew marooned on Elephant Island. South Georgia lies within the Antarctic Confluence which sees the weather more closely resemble Antarctica.
