You can see what the effect is onthe plaster cast with the restoration of the nose and you can also seewhat the condition of the face was. I have here the different stepsin the work, outlining what was done. This opening (indicating)was enlarged simply to place the model upon it. I have here anotherand smaller cast of the central portion of the face upon which the. nose was vulcanized. This shows what the nostrils were like andthese were enlarged about as much as I thought they would permitof distention. Then the wax model of the nose -was placed in positionupon this cast and the case flasked for vulcanization. A good dealof judgment is necessary as to the correct form of the nose on aface of this kind. I had no photo to aid me. I made several modelsbefore I got one that I thought was in harmony with the face. Youcannot put any kind of a nose on any kind of a face, but you havegot to make a nose to correspond with the other features, and after ORIGINAL COMMUNICATIONS. 327 several trials the nose made seemed to best suit this case.
