Until five years ago he-was following a commercial calling, but a sojournin the mountains revealed to him the beauties ofnature, and led bim to relinquish a business careerand become a painter. His home for the pastfour years has been the romantic forest regionbetween Bohemia and Bavaria, whence he gathersa rich harvest of motifs for his paintings.
