A silver-mounted Italian miquelet-lock pistol, Antonio Romano, Naples circa 1800. Two-stage barrel, octagonal becoming round after a cut girdle, with smooth bore in 18 mm calibre. At the muzzle and girdle ornamental gold inlays. Above the breech gold-inlaid marks of the Royal Naples Manufactory (Stöckel no. 817 + 814). Finely chiselled miquelet lock, underneath the powder pan the engraved signature "". Carved walnut stock with chequered butt and silver furniture bearing engaved tendril decoration.
