Chlamys squamatus scallop shell. The shell of the scallop Chlamys squamatus. Chlamys is a genus of small scallops, marine bivalve molluscs in the family Pectinidae. The name is taken from the Ancient Greek word chlamys, a cloak worn by soldiers. Shells of bivalve molluscs consist of two articulating parts, or valves.
