Moon and star trails over Forbidden City, Beijing, China. Time-exposure image of star trails, created by the Earth's rotation on its axis, reflected in the moat around part of the Forbidden City. The trail of the Moon is also present, and the thinner bright streak at centre is Venus. Passing behind the tower is the trail of the star Fomalhaut, in the constellation Piscis Austrinus. The Forbidden City is a large complex of historic royal buildings in Beijing, China. At centre left is a corner tower (Jiao Lou in Chinese), one of four at the corners of the Forbidden City's outer wall. The Forbidden City, dating from the 15th century, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Photographed over the course of three hours on 6 December 2016.
