A little German band in uniform ac- companied the crowd on the first train and met all the other picnic trains and led the crowds over to the grove. They also rendered music in the grove and, at the races, and at the ball game, and this made quite a hit with the crowd. The ball game was \ery in- teresting and the crack baseball play- ers from Maywood that represented the Florists' Club won from the fast Morton Grove team in a close and ex- citing seven-inning game by a score of T to 3. The long list of sporting events was also very interesting. Roland Poehlmann. Willard Asmus. Rudolph Juergens and Luke Schrer were the stars in the races for the young men and Paul Klingsporn. Frank Potocka, Fritz Simons. Michael Fink. Sam Seligman. P. J. Foley. Jr., Fairchild and F. Smith were the win- ners in the fat men and married men's races. Emil Reichling won the lemon-eating contest by a wide mar- gin. There w-ere numerous other events for the ladies and boys on the pro- gram and the prizes that were given away were all donated to the club. The dance was largely attended and the music was furnished by B. Zima's crack orchestra, which played until nearly midnight, when the delightful outing came to a close. The picnic ajd the sports committees, which con- sisted of President French. W. J. Kei- mel. James Morton. Ed. Enders. M. Moore. James Foley. Richard Salm. E. F. Winterson. Tony* Gabel. Frank Potocka. Leonard H. Vaughan and E. A. Ollinger. worked early and late and spared neither time nor ex- pense to make things as pleasant as possible for all those that were in at- tendance. Paul Klingsporn. Michael Fink. Art, Keenan. C. G. Anderson, and many others ably assisted the committee on the grounds. The Mor- ton Grove
