He cameto Texas in 1857 and settled in Milam 1859 he was on the frontiers of Texas inthe company commanded by General L. He enlisted in the Confederate serv-ice in the first company that went out fromMilam county, which was commanded byCaptain J. C. Rogers and was a part of Hoodsbrigade. He was in all the battles participated in by Hoods brigade up to the battle of Gettysburg,where he lost his right arm and was captured. He wasa prisoner about ten months, for a while at Baltimore, a while at FortMcHenry and a while at Point Look Out, at which place he was ex-changed. After he was exchanged he was placed in the invalids corpsand ordered to report to General E. Kirby Smith, but organized a batteryof the reserve corps commanded by General J. B. Robertson. After the war General Beane returned to Milam county. In 1886 hewas a candidate for tax assessor of the county and was defeated by eightvotes. By
