Cape Weaver or Kaapse Wewer, South Africa


The Cape Weaver get its name from the type of nest that it weaves within the trees where it lives, which are made of tightly woven strips of reed, plam or grass. This bird occupies the highveld around the Cape but is not found in the Karoo preferring gardens, farmland, woodland and reeds. The diet of the Cape Weaver includes insects, seeds, pollen, nectar and fruit, it will eat off bird feeders.
