During the progress of the Civil War Lorenzo enlisted for service in the Union army and served for two years andten months, or until the close of the war. in the Eighty-first Regiment,Lidiana Volunteer Infantry. He participated in the battles of Nashvilleand was with General Shermans army for two years. Upon the conclu-sion of his military service he returned to the home farm and there spentthe rest of his life, h
