Holy Island Priory


Holy Island Priory / Lindisfarne Priory. Pilgrims having been crossing the tidal causeway for over 1300 years the priory was one of the early important centres of Christianity in Anglo Saxon England. The site was founded by St Aidan in AD635. The site was made famous by the greatest holy man of Northumbria St Cuthbert who lived and died here
