Operation.—In using the pipe folder just describedspecial judgment should be exercised in changing thegauge to secure % and % inch lock. Care should betaken not to turn in the gauge screw on the lever end so 52 SHEET METAL WORKERS MANUAL far that it strikes against the folding bar, thus drawingthe folding blade out of line; and the gauge screw onthe opposite end should not be turned in so far that itpushes the gauge and folding blade out of line. Thegauge screws described hold or release a hidden gaugeunder the folding blade, and have an important part inadjusting the machine for forming the two sizes of locksreferred to. When the gauge screw next to the hand lever is screwedin and the gauge screw on the other end is unscrewed,. Before changing the gauge thehand lever should be pushed toward the left as far as itwill go, in order to bring the screw holes to their properplaces.
