Eric Liddell (1902-1945), British Olympic Gold Medalist runner and Christian missionary to China. Pictured at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, Liddell, a devout Christian, refused to run in his favored 100-meter race because the event was to be held on Sunday. Instead, he ran in the 400-meter race on a weekday and won. Liddell is featured in the Oscar-winning film, Chariots of Fire.
