A coin portrait of King Juba II (aka Luba) of Numidia, (Mauretania) Africa, during the Roman ascendancy. His first wife was Cleopatra Selene II, daughter of the Greek Ptolemaic Queen Cleopatra VII of Egypt and Mark Juba II and Cleopatra Selene moved to Mauretania, they renamed their new capital Caesaria (now Cherchell, Algeria). Juba was a prolific author writing in Greek and Latin about history, natural history, geography, grammar, and the arts.
