Square vase, ca. 1889, French, Choisy-le-Roi, Porcelain, confirmed: 15 3/8 × 7 3/4 × 7 3/4 in., lb. In the 1880s he learned how to make the desirable but technically difficult oxblood (sang de boeuf) glaze, for which he won the gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris
