Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Isabel Chavez, assigned to Navy Reserve Assault Craft Unit One (ACU-1), stands lookout aboard a Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Boat in San Diego Harbor during a Coxswain Qualification practical Dec. 1. The exercises tested skills in both routine piloting as well as unplanned events, such as, man overboard, low visibility, and loss of steering. Sailors who pass the practical demonstration will be qualified to support ACU-1 reserve and active duty missions as coxswains.
