The Spirella Building, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. In 1999 HRH Prince of Wales performed the formal re-opening after the £11m restoration.


The Spirella Building , Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. The factory was built between 1912 and 1920, and was designed to provide a good working environment for its mainly female employees, who were provided with a canteen, library, ballroom, baths and showers, hairdressing, and bicycle repairs. Corsets were made here for over 80 years which were sold by agents known as ‘Corsetieres’.
